Search, recommendations and onboarding

Choose which metafields search reads

In Search → Results & ranking you can now pick product metafields for search to read, so shoppers find products by the details you keep in them. Saving your choice re-indexes your catalog.Search can now return your store pages, policies and blog posts next to products. Pick the pages to index, switch on automatic indexing per type, or add custom URLs.

Out-of-stock products and New arrivals in recommendations

Each recommendation surface has an Include out-of-stock products toggle, for stores that want sold-out products to stay visible. New arrivals steps gained a Published within (days) window, set to 30 days for new steps.

Define “New in” by published or created date

The New in badge in Settings → Merchandising → Product badges has a Define by choice: published date or created date. The same date orders collections sorted by Newest in or Oldest in.

A new install screen

While Depict reads your catalog after install, the app now shows what it does for merchandising, recommendations and search, with previews built from your own products.
Analytics, recommendations and multi-store

One Analytics page

Analytics now brings collections, search, recommendations and products together under one period picker and one export. Search reports and the weekly report moved in as tabs. Help is back in the navigation, with video guides, documentation and chat.

Filter recommendations by tag

Recommendation steps can be filtered by Shopify tag: keep or drop products with the tags you list, or match tags with the product being viewed.

Hide products from a surface

A recommendation surface can now hide products. Hiding wins over pinning, so a hidden product never appears on that surface.

Recommendations across linked stores

Turn on Replicate recommendations in your multi-store group to copy recommendation surfaces from the source store to the other stores, with collection filters and hidden products translated for each store.

Card spacing and image choice in the recommendations section

The Depict Recommendations theme section has new settings: Space between cards, and Card image and Hover image to choose which product image the cards show.

Search boost & bury of its own

Search can now use its own boost & bury rules, separate from your collections, or go back to the collection rules at any time.

A new name

The app is now called Depict: Search & Merchandising in your Shopify admin.
Install and recommendations

Fewer permissions at install

Installing the app now asks for fewer Shopify permissions. Access to discounts, price rules, navigation, product feeds, reports and shipping is no longer requested.

Catalog sync is fully automatic

Your catalog syncs from Shopify automatically, so Settings no longer offers a manual sync.

Pinned products on recommendation surfaces

Pin products to fixed slots on a recommendation surface, on every page it serves or per product.

Products page

The Products page shows how a single product performs: revenue, a shopper funnel, daily trends and its performance in each collection.
Documentation

New documentation home

Depict: Search & Merchandising now has its own documentation section, covering onboarding, collection merchandising, boost & bury, A/B testing and multi-store — plus a full API reference. Release notes for Depict: Search & Merchandising will appear here going forward.
In-app product news continues to appear in the Depict: Search & Merchandising dashboard’s changelog feed.
