On Depict’s new search engine the Synonyms tab is not shown, and the
page opens on Configuration.
Limits and behavior
- The market and period selectors at the top scope the analytics. Period presets are 30, 7 or 1 days (default 30) plus a custom date range; change figures compare against the equally long period immediately before.
- The KPI tiles and search funnel on Overview require search performance reporting to be enabled for the store; the query tables show for every store.
- There is no per-query result curation: you cannot pin specific products to a specific search term. Result ranking follows automatic ranking plus the rules on the Boost & Bury page — and, on the new engine, the search-specific rules on this page’s Boost & Bury tab.
- On Depict’s new search engine, synonym sets have no effect: the engine matches related words on its own and does not use them.
- Query tables hide queries searched fewer than 3 times (they are still included in the CSV export), and Total Searches excludes queries under 3 characters.
- Propagation: synonym changes take up to 30 minutes; Configuration, Exclusions and States changes reach the storefront within a few minutes; blocked-term changes can take up to an hour to reach autocomplete; Start View changes on the previous engine reach the store within about a minute.
- Caps: 20 excluded tags, 500 excluded products, 4 suggested searches per language, 200 blocked terms, and 6 pinned start-view products on the new engine.
- Exclusion removals (untagged or unlisted products) may take until the next catalog sync to reappear in search.
- The Query Performance export is capped at 20,000 queries; the least-searched queries are left out beyond that.
Overview
For stores on the previous engine, the Overview combines:
Stores on the new search engine get a reporting dashboard as their Overview
instead: KPI tiles (searches, users, CTR, no-click rate, zero-results rate,
attributed revenue), metric charts (Attributed Revenue, Search
Conversion Rate, Non-Search Conversion Rate, Total Searches,
Zero-Results Rate, No-Click Rate, Avg. Click Position,
Attributed AOV, Non-Search AOV), a Search Funnel, Search Entry
Points (the page shoppers were on when they started searching), and a
Query Performance table with each query’s full funnel — searches,
zero-results, clicks, CTR, carts, orders and attributed revenue. Charts
switch between Daily and Hourly views (hourly for ranges of 10 days
or less), can be filtered by country, and both metrics and query performance
export to CSV.
Steering search results
Which products rank first for a query is decided by automatic ranking plus your rules:- On the previous engine, search follows the store-wide rules on the Boost & Bury page. To lift specific products in search, boost them (or a collection containing them) there.
- On the new search engine, the Boost & Bury tab on this page holds search-specific rules with the same boost and bury lists as the merchandising page. While no search rules exist, a banner states “No search rules — merchandising Boost & Bury applies” and search follows the merchandising rules. As soon as search rules exist, they replace the merchandising rules for search results (“Search rules set — overruling merchandising for search”); remove all of them to fall back.
Synonyms
Synonym groups teach the previous engine your customers’ vocabulary, per language. Zero-result queries are the best source of candidates — the Add synonyms action on the Overview’s zero-results insight pre-fills the form with the query.- In the page header, open the Add menu and choose Add synonym.
- In the Add synonyms dialog, select one or more Languages.
- Enter the words under Synonyms, pressing Enter after each.
- Save.
Content
The Content tab adds non-product content to search results, per language — size guides, service pages, campaign landing pages. Each entry has a Title, a URI and Keywords; the content appears when a shopper’s query matches a keyword. New entries are created from the page header’s Add menu with Add content.Start View
The Start View tab controls what shoppers see when they open search before typing anything. On the previous engine it holds two lists, Pinned products and Pinned collections. The order in each list is the order shoppers see; drag to reorder. Below each list, suggestions are drawn from the store’s current organic start view, so you can pin what is already showing. Changes save automatically (“All changes saved”) and reach the store within about a minute. The Preview button shows the composition shoppers will get: pinned items first, then the store’s organic results. The Start View needs a default market and language on the account; the tab
says so and asks you to contact Depict support if they are missing.
